Direct Object Particle を and Indirect Object Particle に
To study this grammar point, please make sure you understand the following:
Particle を (pronounced as /wo/ but usually sounds like /o/) is used with a noun which is a direct object for an action verb in a sentence.
- 映画を見ました。
- I watched a movie.
When a sentence has two objects, use を for the direct object and に for the indirect object.
- 本を友達にあげます。
- I give a book to my friend.
Notice that を is often dropped in spoken Japanese, and is optional with a する verb.
- 毎日、日本語を勉強する。
- 毎日、日本語勉強する。
- Study Japanese everyday.
